Theoretically, I could locate it if I were actually on the roof, the wizard replies. But the ether there is hard to sense in any detail from a distance. It’s like staring at a fog bank. And it’s more dangerous there for me than for you.
“Locating it isn’t a problem, I just saw two more come out and it seemed to be from the same place,” you reply. “Could you, I don’t know, seal it or something?”
Very unlikely… wait, there may be something. That glass box is an ethereal boundary. If you moved it to the location of the gateway, even without opening it, the gateway wouldn’t be stable any more.
“You mean there was a boundary here the whole time?” you ask, a little annoyed. “I had to go to a lot of trouble to get those devices, it would have been nice to know this was an option.”
If it’s any consolation, it wouldn’t work as effectively, the wizard thinks at you. In the meantime, I think it’s best for you to get that box to the location they’re appearing from. That probably won’t solve the main issue, but it should keep it from getting worse. I can give you some support, but I can’t really do anything that requires fine control from this distance. And I can’t cast on the box at all, due to the ethereal boundary. Still, if you have any thoughts on how I can help from here, feel free to share.
Well, you might have one idea.
Ask the wizard to throw you rope or twine, in the same way she got you here, so you can pull the box easier
You remember seeing a bag of plant soil on your way here, on the floor, before you got launched, ask the wizard to throw you that, it will be useful to cover the box with it and make it visible, the trail it will leave will also be useful for tracking where you pushed it
Ask her if its possible for her to push you with a powerful gust of wind as you grab the box, it is way too heavy for you to push, but she can do it with wind. Technically, she wouldn’t be casting on the box, she would be casting on you
Ask her to instead cast on the creatures so they don’t bother you as you push the box
