“Well, it would help if I could see the box better,” you say, mostly thinking out loud. “I might have to dodge the creatures while moving it, and then I could lose track of it. So you could get me some dirt or something I could stick to the box to make it easier to see.”
I think I see an option for that. I’ll work out a way to get it to you. Any other ideas?
“It’d be even easier if I didn’t have to deal with these creatures getting in the way. Any chance you could do something to them?”
It would be difficult. I can cast on you a little more easily because I can track the mental link. But I could only really do untargeted spells to hit the creatures.
“What if you made me heavier, and used a wind spell to blow them around?” you ask.
It’s a good idea in principle, but the weight-altering spells normally require the caster to touch you. I was able to use them at a distance earlier because I’d prepared long-distance versions and stored them. But I used those up and don’t have other ones ready yet. Besides, if I made you too heavy, you might fall through the roof.
Okay, well, if the idea is sound, you’ll just have to figure out another way to do it.
“What sort of spells could you cast on me from a distance?”
I could use light or sound magic to make an illusion centered on you. Though I don’t know how the creatures sense things, so it might be the illusions wouldn’t work. I could also send a fireball or the like your way, but it would be hard to make that useful. There’s also some tricks I can do with the mental link, but they’re only in your own head. Most other spells require me to get closer than is safe.
“What kind of tricks?” you ask. A moment later, an image of an apple flashes through your mind.
Basically, I can put specific thoughts in your mind. It’s a bit more work than talking, though, and I can’t see much use for it other than showing you images. Which doesn’t seem very helpful here. And I can’t, say, make you have a brilliant idea for getting through this, not unless I have the idea first. It wouldn’t necessarily work better than talking even if I did, it would be very easy for the idea to fade before you’d fully processed it.
You think over what she’s told you. Maybe there’s a way you can make use of some of those effects.
Might as well test how the creatures react to illusions, have the wizard make you look like one of them, then draw their attention by banging your sword or something, staying in the circle of course
“Show me an image of the roof layout so I can plan my route”
Have her flashing warnings in your head if a creature gets close, or if she senses anything coming your way

You’re a good method actress, and she can provide you wind, heat, and even mental images, perhaps you can convince yourself that you are something else more capable of this task, a beast, another person, a god… this could border into hypnosis territory but it could work
