I can change your physical form to ether. However, this would be very difficult to reverse even if you were a wizard. Without the ability to manipulate ether, you will have almost no control over your new form.
“Um, I’m not really an expert here, but what exactly is the problem with sending my physical body back?” you ask.
The problem is, that can only be done with a gateway and I can neither create nor manipulate those. But I can send ether between worlds. If you were a wizard, you might be able to activate the gateway from this side.
“So, hold on. If I could get a wizard here, then I wouldn’t have to be turned to ether? Because I have a mental link to one… or did when I went through, at least. Um, I guess I don’t know if that works across worlds,” you mutter.
Only a very powerful mental link can cross dimensional boundaries. It is unlikely, the bird replies. However, it may explain how you were able to cross over. If the wizard was linked to you, and you were close enough to the ethereal boundary, they may have been able to deactivate it. This would at least mean they are aware of your presence here, as they are responsible for it.
“So they might get me out,” you exclaim.
While possible, we do not have much time to wait. Your presence here is… disruptive, even more so than the quicksilver. Unless you have a more specific idea, I will have to transform you.
You think about this.
“Well, if you can send me out when I’m made of ether, that means you can send ether out, right?” you muse. “So could we send out a message in the ether first? Then she might respond if she senses it.”
I do not have fine control over ether as mortal wizards do. But I could precede you with other ether, yes. It simply would not be in the form of a spell, or indeed any concrete form at all.
Hmm. Maybe there’s something you can do with that anyway.
