The thing that’s striking is, as hard as it is to make out detail of the object, you can see that it’s nowhere near the ground in the instant before the print appears. But it doesn’t look like it was dropped, either.
Rather, it seems to have very suddenly extended itself, which reminds you of the tool Chald used for digging earlier. You make a point of checking whether you can see him while reviewing a scene with time magic, just in case.
The only other thing you can really check is the tunneler’s arrival. But all you notice is that one moment it’s not there, and the next moment it is. It does, in fact, come after the eggs hatch, so that might have been a test after all.
Hold on, there’s one more thing. It looks like the tunneler is going out of its way not to step on the eggs or the hydra. But why? Even if the tunneler is following orders, the eggs have hatched and the hydra is dead. They’re still here in the present, so it’s not likely whoever brought the tunneler here has further use for them…
Except, perhaps, to mark the location somehow. They might intend to come back, perhaps even with another tunneler. You can’t be sure of that, but it seems prudent to find some way to cut off the possibility.
So you start by trying to burn the hydra’s body, but you encounter significant resistance. Whoever left it here was apparently concerned enough to put a protective enchantment on it.
But most likely, that just means you can’t cast on the hydra directly. So you’ll just need another way to deal with it.
Looks like you’ll have to carry the body with you
Separate the soil around the body and carry it with earth magic
Construct a little cage with rocks and surround the body with it
Use a bubble to carry it
If you can’t carry the body, then maybe cast an illusion spell around the area where the body is, so nobody can see it
