Swamped Chapter 184 Page 15

Pardon me, you interject. But is your spell supposed to make parts of the map shake?

The Storyteller flips the map around.

Huh. I was just checking for paper, didn’t really think to check what was on it. Seems the particular shade of green ink used for the swamplands is ether sensitive. Their etherform glances down for a moment. And it also seems our guest is rather uncomfortable with our noticing it. Perhaps he was looking for this map and we just stumbled on it by chance?

You have your own thoughts on the matter.

It seems to me the most straightforward reason for using ether-sensitive paint is to make it responsive to a specific spell, you observe. And the spell you used for your demonstration happens to be close enough to it to produce a partial reaction. I assume that was a simple light spell to highlight a spot rather than the exact spell from the story?

You are correct, the Storyteller confirms. Suggesting that this paint is checking for a particular light spell. But whatever mystery it hides, I believe it better to continue with the story for the moment. I will, however, try to cover the rest of it more quickly. Did I get around to telling you where the map pointed to?

If you did, I was too distracted by the real map to notice, you reply apologetically. Could you repeat that?
