Well, it’s on solid ground. And putting protective magic into the ground is quite challenging. So you soften the soil underneath the hydra’s remains, until it’s so weak that the body falls through it.
With some effort, you manage to make it sink about eight feet into the earth. That should preclude using any sort of marking. You do the same with the eggs, and then you fill in the odd print.
You’re not sure how useful that was. It could be all you’ve really done was signal to whoever was here that you know about them… and that gives you an idea. You can set up a trap for them, to imply a threat. That might at least slow down their plans while they figure out what to do about their foe.
You gather some wind ether for the trap. It’s going to explode, but because it’s wind ether, it will only fling whoever’s caught in it around, causing no direct harm. Should be good enough as a bluff.
Then you set up a trigger to check for a living being of sufficient size. This is a tricky trigger to manage when you’re not going for a specific species, as if it’s too sensitive insects or rodents can set it off. You think you managed a reasonable size, though. Should catch a grebling even if they’re on the small side. It might also catch a greatrat, but as your main goal is to announce that you were here, that’s acceptable. That’s bound to leave noticeable marks.
You think you’re done here. You head back out to town, and you see that a box is being pulled up to the stairway via a pulley system that definitely wasn’t there before. You suppose you should follow the group out, then.
Norle quietly acknowledges your presence, and everyone heads out.
But you notice something strange as you re-enter the town.
Suggestions:
It’s more shadows, like the ones before, they’re sneaking around
You notice more gold formations that definitely weren’t there before
You see something like the aggressive toxin from before make its way to the town
A lot more people showed up around the work your gang is doing, circling them, maybe just watching?
