It’s a bent metal badge of some sort with a holy symbol of Reth on it. You’ve seen some Protectors wearing something similar. This raises a lot of questions and you’re going to have to be careful who you ask them to.
The thing is, you’re not sure it came from a Protector. The ones you’ve met take Reth pretty seriously. It would be out of character for them to let a symbol of their devotion to her just fall on the ground, even if they were doing something questionable.
For the moment, you pocket it. Maybe you can ask someone about it later. Perhaps Tom will stay behind when Drake takes the bait you’re about to set.
Then you hear a light rattle, and you realize you put it in the same pocket as Mina’s earring. Probably better not to do that, you wouldn’t want the earring falling out when you show the badge. The other way around might be an issue, for that matter.
That’s when you notice that the earring is stuck in a small dent in the badge, and examining it more closely, it looks like the earring fits in there perfectly. As though it made the dent.
So you might also need to ask Mina some questions when you next see her.
