Swamped Chapter 219 Page 8

“Is this about that theory you were raving about where Redlake has a fake company he uses just to keep illicit goods in a warehouse near his main operation?” Dee sighs. “I told you, that’s ridiculous. It would be a huge risk to keep anything off the books close at hand.”

“I dug a little deeper,” Len replies. “I had some details off, but I’m pretty sure now. The codename for the storehouse is Temple of the Elements, and it’s somewhere on the brewery grounds. But not accessible to brewery staff.”

“Out of all the stuff I’ve seen here, that sounds the most like his office,” you mutter. “It sure seems to be somewhere that staff won’t be poking around, anyways.”

“No, my intel suggests that while he hides some stuff in the office, that’s only the top priority items that he absolutely  doesn’t want to lose,” Len replies. “The so-called Temple is someplace else. But maybe it’s somewhere he goes often.”

You give this some thought. The darkwood was hidden in a cask and stored with the sacred wine in a tower. You didn’t really see room for any other storage there, though. But that’s the sort of place where Redlake could have controlled who accessed it. And the name is probably a clue.

Well, the sacred wine is only available for the festival. This “Temple of the Elements” is probably something he’d want access to year-round. So what’s a permanent fixture of a brewery that the owner might keep staff out of?

“Perhaps he has a private collection of wine on the premises?” you muse. “Or at least, that’s what he tells everyone it is. And he could carry a cask in every once in a while, and the employees wouldn’t ask questions about what it contains. They’d assume it’s just wine.”

“Okay, that’s a little less of a stretch,” Dee concedes. “Why call it Temple of the Elements, though? That’s an odd name for your private wine collection.”

“Maybe that has something to do with where it’s located,” Len suggests.

Well, now that he mentions it, you did see something that might fit the name.

  1. You saw a door with several color coded locks. Claim you overheard staff talking about a room with elemental symbols. (Could alternatively be a ring of color coded keys)

Point out that some deliveries go through unknown locations to the public

Pretend you read about a ‘Temple of the Elements’ in an outdated brochure, then pretend like you remember most of what it said, relate it to what you saw inside the office

You remember seeing a coded calendar with “Element Days” marked, phrase it as overhearing rumours that Redlake has very particular scheduling
