Specifically, she’s almost immediately confronted by two of the actual workers here. One has drawn a sword, the other is questioning her.
“I’m in charge of this area, and I know the face of everyone assigned here. So either you’ve wandered out of your own patrol zone and should be getting back to it, or you’re an impostor.”
“Have you not noticed the chaos over there?” Minnie fires back. “Everyone’s panicking. I just wanted to get away!”
“Then why were you walking briskly instead of running?” asks the man pointing a sword at her.
“I hit my ankle. That’s as fast as I can go right now,” she replies. “Why aren’t you doing anything to help? Looks to me like you could spare a few people to calm things down.”
“That area is Rennig’s responsibility, and I’m not bailing him out,” replies the leader. “If he can’t keep his group disciplined enough to maintain position, that’s his problem, not mine.”
Well, that’s gotten you a name to look into later.
“It’s your problem because I’m not going to be the only one running over here,” Minnie counters. “You think things are going to stay fine when you’ve got panicked people running around everywhere, maybe messing with important work? Not to mention they can’t keep a proper eye on their own area. You don’t think that’s going to make trouble for you? You think Rennig’s going to take all the blame if the whole thing’s a failure, when you just stood by and let things happen?”
“She’s got a point, Boss,” the one with the sword says. “Think we oughta at least send someone to take a closer look at the situation and report back. Your call, though.”
“You need to look at the big picture, Blade,” the leader counters. “Remember, the only thing past Rennig’s area is the sea. Unless they’ve somehow concealed an entire ship from us, they’ll have nowhere to run. If we hold position, they can’t escape.”
Well, that sounds like a cue. You use some sound magic to mimic cannonfire, and then some fire spells to simulate the impact of a barrel of fire powder.
“And how sure are you they haven’t concealed an entire ship, Boss?” Blade asks sarcastically.
Good improv work, Minnie sends. Now I’ve got a quick request for you.
She requests an illusion: “Make it look like a cloaked ship just decloaked and started to fire. Something big and dramatic.” or “make it sound like a huge ship just landed on the shore, anchor, chains, cannons being loaded, people climbing down, the works”
“Can you fake some yelling from over there? Make it sound like someone spotted saboteurs or intruders.”
“Trigger a nearby structure or piece of equipment to collapse or spark. Convince them someone is invading from the sea”
She also requests you silence her footsteps, and maybe to keep a tracker on the leader.
