Most of it is wind ether. The other standard types are all present, but in much smaller quantities.
You suspect this relates to the coming storm. It would be extremely helpful if you could learn more, but it’s far too dangerous in ether form.
Conveniently, though, there are two people carrying a large box towards the building where the ether is gathering, and they seem quite talkative.
“I tell you, I don’t trust that Shume kid,” one of them grumbles. “Maybe he’s impressed Jack with his fancy magic, but I bet he’s making a play to take power in the Guild himself.”
“I’m not saying I trust him either, but he doesn’t seem the sort to be interested in the workings of the Guild,” the other replies. “If he’s scheming something, it’s probably got to do with magic. Don’t see how that’s our problem.”
“It is if he decides to drown us in a tidal wave,” the first mutters.
“Don’t be a fool, no wizard is powerful enough to control the ocean,” the other one laughs. “We have more to worry from Nual doing that if we upset him.”
“Not convinced that’s out of the question either,” says the first. “I don’t know what the point of half this stuff we’re doing is. Yeah, Guild business is sketchy and there’s a lot of stuff they don’t tell hired hands like us, but those plans usually come from the likes of the Flames or the Lady. Not some prodigious wizard who says he can command time and memories. Is he even twenty?”
“Well, if he’s telling the truth about commanding time, he could make himself look as young as he likes,” the second observes. “Look, I don’t know why you’re griping about him here. Sure, this was Shume’s idea, but it’s Victoria doing the actual casting. You telling me you don’t trust her to notice if there’s something funny about it?”
“It just seems real weird to me that we’re delivering this, and yes, even if Victoria thinks it’s okay.”
Uh oh, what’s in the box? Mana root.. *and* dark wood?
