Swamped Chapter 143 Page 7

“I’m with Mina; we should take care of the problem here,” you say after some thought. “Or at least figure out what’s going on.”

“Not very happy with it, but I guess I can’t argue with the numbers,” Bert sighs. “Now let’s see if we can get these priests to follow us.”

Managing the crowd is somewhat awkward, but luckily, enough priests want to just get out that you don’t have much trouble convincing the senior ones to let you guide them. You don’t see a single conscious guard on your way out. You carefully escort them back to the warehouse, and once you arrive, the priests start trying to figure out if anyone’s missing among them.

As they do, you take Bert and Mina aside.

“We should probably come up with a plan before we go back in,” you say. “And I think the first step of it should be meeting back up with Drip.”

“We didn’t make arrangements for that, did we,” Bert says. “Probably should have.”

“Well, I don’t think they’ll harm him,” Mina muses. “They just ran out of priests, after all. So at worst he’ll be captured.”

“I’d rather find him, either way.” You think for a bit. “The guard who ran in said there was a fire. Drip probably started it. We can start by looking for that, he’s likely not too far.”

“Guess it’s a start. We don’t know what we’re even looking for at this point,” Bert grumbles.

You start to leave, but one of the priests suddenly runs up to you.

“Pardon me,” he says. “I’m not very clear on what’s going on, but there’s something I need to tell you about.”

I’m not sure why, but Brume is investing his essence into the life aura of your suit. It may get a little itchy.
