Swamped Chapter 163 Page 7

Can’t find.

It seems like she’s having trouble mentally talking.

Are they protected? Do I need to do something to help you overcome it? you ask mentally.

Not… quite. Found place… no one there.

Now you’re confused.

Where’s the place, then?

On your back. There’s a sense of uncertainty to her words, which you can’t say you blame her for.

“Um,” you say out loud, because it’s too striking to keep to yourself. “The old wizard is on my back. Are you saying he’s somehow firing arrows…”

You recall the one that went right through him.

“Or, maybe the archer somehow used an arrow to send whatever trail you were following to him.” The moment you say it, it sounds even more absurd than that the wizard is firing them.

You hear the mental equivalent of a gasp before her response. She seems a bit more coherent.

Either way, if I’m picking up the wizard, that explains why I can’t observe anything about the archer. But if an arrow went through him – you were thinking about that hard enough that I picked it up – something might have happened. Unfortunately, I can’t check directly.

Well, I can see him, but I can’t see magic. So I don’t know that I’d be any help.

There’s one thing you should be able to check.
