Swamped Chapter 149 Page 17

“The Golem arrived in port recently. I came here because one of their priests was involved in some shady business, and Redlake was in contact with his boss,” you reply. You’re kind of skipping over some steps. “So, if some priests of Nual came looking at the casks to make sure everything was in order, well, it’d be awkward to turn them away, right?”

“And Redlake’s run off, so he couldn’t stop us, or move the darkwood,” Mina says, smiling. “Provided we get this moving fast.”

“Assuming he doesn’t have a trusted hand watching it just in case something like this happens,” Bert interjects. “Which he probably does.”

“Then you can figure out who that is and keep a close watch on them,” you reply. “I’ll get the priests here, but before I go, I just want to check one thing. You seem pretty well-informed. Have you heard anything about a plan to sabotage the festival?”

“Well, there’s some stuff that could be related,” Bert says. “But I’m guessing you’ve had enough leads that didn’t go anywhere clear already.”

You nod your head.

“No sense giving you more, then,” Bert says. “At least not unless we find ourselves with more time to talk about everything that’s happened.”

“Wait,” Mina says. “I did hear one thing. Didn’t know what to make of it at the time, but now that you’ve mentioned sabotaging the festival, I don’t see how it could be about anything else.”
